How to make lipstick a lighter colour?

i want my lips to look the way they do when i apply foundation on them (ie. nude) so i bought this cappuccino coloured lipstick but it turned out to be wayy too dark! is there any way to make the lipstick lighter? like mix it with something? How to make lipstick a lighter colour?
i've never heard of something to mix it with but you could try a few other things.....try putting a very light bronzing powder over them after you apply the lipstick. a light gold shimmer will make them less bold but still have the color you like. If that doesn't work, try your foundation under it or even better...........try a clear gloss on top of a light coat of the lipstick. let me know if u like :)How to make lipstick a lighter colour?
I've had this problem before. What I usually do is apply a really moisturizing lip balm first, and then depending on the size of the lipstick tip, I either dab it over my lips or I apply to the outer edges (if it is a small tube) like it is a thicker lip liner and I just rub my lips together.
try petroleum jelly, the only thing w/ that is that you'll be making a gloss but you will get a lighter color. If you don't want to go that route then use a lipstick brush to apply so that way you can control how much lipstick you will be putting on and it won't be applied so dark.
you could mix it with a white/ light moisturiser for lips.

or even mix it with zinc cream.

you could also apply the lipstick, then do the whole ';press lips on tissue'; kinda thing. Then put clear gloss over it if you like.

Try dabbing your lips with a napkin or something and then rub your lips together
I would put the lipstick on then put clear or realy light lip gloss over it... Or you could just buy a lighter color... :)
