How can you make black lipstick not look tacky?

I'm not asking your opinion on black lipstick-lets get that straight. The point is that I've seen someone wearing black lipstick and it not looking tacky. However, most time when I see it (which isn't really a lot) it looks very very tacky.

How is it even possible to make it look...not tacky(?)How can you make black lipstick not look tacky?
wear lipgloss over it. maybe try a deep red or purple gloss, to give the black lipstick a sort of red/purple sheen. or if you're really set on it being completely black, you could just use clear gloss.

i know some lancome and yves saint laurent make black lipgloss that looks fabulous over a dark lipstick. this would be more subtle, and therefore look less tacky. you could also wear the black gloss over black lipstick for a full jet black effect. How can you make black lipstick not look tacky?
It really depends on the persons face. Most people will look horrible with black lipstick, regardless of technique or glitter gloss(or whatever the other person said). It just depends on if you have the face and lips for it. But I'll tell you that out of all of the people I've seen with black lipstick, which is a pretty decent amount, TWO of them have pulled it off nicely. The rest, it looked disgusting on.
Use lots of glitter gloss, then it doesn't look quite as '1980's goth' and brings it up to date.
You can't. It looks tacky no matter what you do to it because no ones lips are black.
there's no way. it's black lipstick! it will ALWAYS look tacky
Dabb it with a tissue once applied :)
