With their recent track record of nearly butchering everything they get their hands on (economy, foreign policy, social policy..etc etc etc), wouldn't you try to talk about everything but the issues? Why is everone surprised the Repoublicans are making an issue out of the lipstick comment? ?
It doesn't surprise me, it saddens me. We now have 53 days until the election, and the media has latched onto this kind of story as though it's the most important one. When the Obama campaign sends people to Alaska to investigate Palin, since no one seems to know a thing about her, they're reported on as being the bad guys. Whenever Obama says something about the issues at hand, it just doesn't go anywhere, no one responds and nothing happens. None of it gets in the news. But a pig with lipstick does because that's how Republicans want this campaign to go - with as few questions as possible about the actual issues of this election. Why is everone surprised the Repoublicans are making an issue out of the lipstick comment? ?
The Republicans are being helped by the media's refusal to focus on issues and instead focus on nonsense. Their only goal is to get more viewers so they can get higher ratings so they can make more money. The excellent points that Obama has been making in his various speeches and that Biden has been covering in his don't even get any airtime. The Republicans throw a fit over a comment that wasn't even about Palin and the media is all over it. We are not being well served in this election by our mainstream sources of information and that suits the Republicans just fine.
Actually, as a Republican I wish the whole deal would be dropped... it's been taken out of context and blown out of proportion... I also wish that the damn dem's would quit assuming that every Rep. is making an issue out of it... when most consider it a non-issue.
I am not, and it was funny to see McCain make fun of Palin 3 or 4 times this last year.
Thought he just met her?
Wow, making fun of people you have not met John?
Actually I have no problem with it, I just consider the source.
They set a trap that Obama unfortunately fell right into head first.
They think the American people are chess pieces in a big game they are playing.
Ya hit it on the head...dats all dey got to talk about......da banks are failing...inflation...unemployment...gas ....da deficit is up...we is in a heep of trouble...but da top 5 poycent is doing fine.......
You make a good point.
It's an easy distraction. That's how they play the game.
